Fiber optic questions

How much does fiber optic installation cost?

It varies more than copper because distance, strand count, and pathway dominate the price — a short indoor 12-strand link is a very different job than an underground run across a yard. After a quick site walk we quote a fixed price covering cable, splicing, and OTDR testing.

Single-mode or multimode fiber — which do I need?

Rule of thumb: multimode (OM3/OM4) is cost-effective for short in-building or in-room links; single-mode handles longer distances and higher future bandwidth. For building-to-building or anything over a few hundred meters, single-mode is usually the right call. We’ll spec what fits your distances and equipment.

Do you do fusion splicing and OTDR testing?

Yes — we fusion splice in-house and OTDR test every strand we install or repair, delivering the traces with the job. We also splice and repair fiber other contractors installed.

Can you repair cut or damaged fiber?

Yes. We locate the damage, splice or re-pull as needed, and re-certify the link. For businesses down hard, we prioritize emergency fiber repairs for existing service clients.

Do you install fiber between buildings?

Yes — aerial, conduit, and underground outside-plant runs between buildings are a core part of our work, including the pathway construction when needed.
